Corporate law not for you?

Come and build a brilliant, exciting and fulfilling career in immigration or public law at Wilsons: we use law to promote and defend human rights.

Based in Tottenham, north London, with a small office in Grays Inn Road, we are one of the largest immigration law departments in the UK with 45 immigration specialists. Battling away since 1989, we established a public law department in 2013 and now, together with our family law department, we have grown into a substantial 16-partner practice employing 90 people with a national reputation for excellence.

IMMIGRATION: With top tier ranking in both the Legal 500 and Chambers, we are passionate about all aspects of immigration from legal aid funded asylum cases to privately funded family based applications and advising EU nationals on Settled Status and British citizenship.

We are also experts in national security cases and SIAC work; we represent victims of trafficking and we help clients with international surrogacy and adoption.

We run cases at all levels and have taken legal points all the way to the Supreme Court and the European Court of Justice.

PUBLIC LAW: Our feedback in the Legal 500 2020 sums us up: ‘The firm is at the top of its game in immigration and associated public law challenges”.

And there’s more:

‘Wilsons has a visceral understanding of the importance of fighting for the civil liberties of the weakest and most vulnerable, which is evidenced in all they do.’

Now you’re making us blush:

‘Second-to-none experience in immigration-related public law. Compassionate lawyers who put their clients first‘.

Our public law specialists represent individuals who are adversely affected by the actions or inaction of public bodies including the Home Office and the police.

We act for people in immigration detention to obtain their liberty and substantial damages.

Clients include the mentally ill, physically disabled, victims of trafficking and torture and children whose age is disputed by the Home office.

We have secured the return of individuals unlawfully removed from the UK.

In addition we assist individuals to obtain proper access to community care and other social support including adequate housing. Our department has established expertise representing victims of human trafficking and modern slavery, such that it has become a ‘go-to’ team for strategic and complex litigation brought by survivors of trafficking.

WHAT OUR PEOPLE SAY WE DO BEST:

“Holding social events etc so we can get to know each other outside of a formal work environment”

“The atmosphere at the firm is good – I think that comes from having the scope to be trusted to just be ourselves.”

“It feels like I have always been supported and there is always someone to go to talk about well-being issues if need be, which is important.”

“I know the firm has been responsive to me in terms of career development and study.”

“I love working somewhere where I feel I can do quality work for vulnerable people and be supported in doing so. I feel very lucky to have this in the current legal aid climate and want to thank management for running the firm in such a way that is possible.”
